In the current update of Sun Java 5 an exception occurred that effects the configuration tool "WGA Manager". The programme cannot be started after updating Java (which is effected automatically with most Java installations).

The problem is the Java component "Web Start", a technique that is used to install the WGA Manager "on click" locally on the PC of the user. This component allows programmes a so-called "persistency service" that is used by the WGA Manager to get information about i.e. the last window position. This enables the WGA manager on start to return to the same position where it had been closed the last time it was used.

This certain programme module malfunctions when the context information is in a certain format. This format has been used by the WGA Manager so far. Thus, the crash of the persistency service results in a crash of the WGA manager.

Innovation Gate therefore now offers WGA 3.1.0 Patch 8. In this patch, the context format of the WGA Manager had been modified so that it still works with the current Java update. Customers with existing maintenance contracts receive this update automatically. Please contact our support team if additional updates for other WGA versions should be needed.

Please install above-mentioned patch. Then please uninstall your current WGA Manager in order to allow a new installation.

• Open "Java" in your system configuration
• In tab "General settings", "Temporary Internet Files" please click "Settings"
• In dialog "Settings for temporary files" click "Show applications"
• Choose your WGA Manager installation (s) from the list of webstart applications and click "Delete application"

When you now open the link to the WGA Manager on the WGA Administrationpage the application will be installed in the most recent version,.
